I had to get my drivers license renewed. It expired the first week of March, but I was more concerned with not being able to get on the plane Sunday than I was with getting a ticket for driving without a license.
Here in Connecticut, we have the option of going to AAA and renewing our license there. And normally, that is what I do. This year, while reading all of the inserts that were sent with my renewal, I found out that there is a $2.00 “convenience fee” for renewing at AAA. Since I am frugal now, I decided that I wasn’t going to pay an extra $2.00 so I went to my local DMV office. With my 7 year-old and 4 year-old in tow.
I have seen the light, and I have learned my lesson. An hour of waiting in line, and growling at my children to stop running around, hitting each other, and being generally annoying to all those in our general vacinity was not worth the $2.00 I saved.
Lesson learned. Two children + no wait = AAA in 6 years.

Been there. I once parked 1/2 mile away from the zoo so that I could avoid paying the parking lot fee. Wasn’t a problem on the way in, but the trip back out to the car with a flailing toddler was intense.
That’s why it’s called a “convenience” fee.
My mom dropped me off when I had to get mine renewed for the first time. I quickly learned why she made me get up at 7am and dropped me off 20 mins before it opened, and would not stick around and wait.
There already was a line up. I wish CAA did the same thing as AAA, I would pay $2 for that.
