Yeah, it’s that time of year again. Everyone is making their resolutions. Lose weight, save money, be a better person, blah, blah, blah. What am I resolving to change this coming year? I’ve been giving this some thought over the last few weeks. So, here goes….
Get Healthy.
Lose Weight. As I posted earlier, I’ve had some medical issues as of late. I started on Accutane a few months ago for acne. This requires monthly blood work, where it was re-discovered that my cholesterol is still high.. I am back on medication for my cholesterol. Also, during my last appointment, I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic.
This one really scares me. Both my mom and dad are insulin-dependent diabetics. I don’t want to follow the same road.
So long story short, I am going to join Weight Watchers in January.
Quit Smoking. Obviously, the smoking needs to go. My doctor gave me a little lecture on this when I went to see him about the high cholesterol. Bye-bye cigarettes.
Exercise. No health regimen is complete without exercise. My goal is to add some form of movement at least three times a week, working up to five times a week as time goes on.
Financial
Budget. I have not been sticking with my budget. I am always over budget in the food category – not because it’s expensive, but because I frequently order take-out or run to the drive thru because I am “too busy” to cook or plan meals. Add to that I hate grocery shopping, and it’s a recipe for disaster. I will menu plan and I will use my crockpot when I know I will be working late.
In addition, I spent over double what I had planned for Christmas. This was because I didn’t track my spending as I went. Again, I became complacent. I vow to look at my budget and track my spending at least twice a week.
And what am I going to do with all of this money I’m going to save? I’m taking my kids on the Disney Cruise I promised them last year.
What are your resolutions for 2009?

I would love to start using my $300 coat rack, er, I mean treadmill, a few times a week. I’d also like to give up my MountainDew addiction.
I’m undecided about trying for 1 more baby this year. I know I have to get off the fence soon, I’ll be 35 this fall. So that resolution is a ‘definite maybe.’
As far as finances go, I’d like to pay off my visa card.
Best of luck!
I’m a big loser this year and don’t have any resolutions. It probably wouldn’t be such a bad idea for me to work in a little exercise.
By the way, I’ve heard the Disney Cruise is awesome.
